If you want to know why I call this the NEW GENERATION JUMPER, all you have to watch how players of any level shoot the ball. It seems there are as many ways to shoot as there are players shooting. Very few are considered "good shooters" and even less are considered "great or PURE shooters."
The great shooters have a few things in common - a QUICK and HIGH RELEASE like the one you see me demonstrating in this picture back in 1973. In today's world, with players being bigger, faster, quicker and stronger than ever, the need for a high release has never been more important.
No matter your age or current shooting style, you can learn the PURE SHOOTING Jumper that creates a HIGH and QUICK RELEASE, with more ACCURACY and GREATER RANGE!
- HIGHER RELEASE POINT: Once again, notice the relaxed extension and the high release of my jumper back in 1973 (by the way, although I've physically changed a lot over the years, my shot hasn't changed at all). Learning to get to this release point makes defending this shot very difficult.
- QUICKER RELEASE: The technique I use to get to this release point is the key to getting your shot off quicker. It is the result of learning to blend the jump and release into one-smooth motion as opposed to jumping, setting (cocking the wrist and elbow) and then shooting. Making it a JUMP SHOT instead of a JUMP/SET/SHOT is what creates a quicker release.
- INCREASED ACCURACY: Creating a single fluid motion by reducing the number of moving parts that stop and restart the flow of a typical JUMP/SET/SHOOT shot minimizes the margin for error and puts more control of the shot into the fingertips, where it belongs.
- GREATER RANGE: A player learns to blend the energy and power generated from the legs while jumping with the high release and fingertip control. This produces a single, uninterupted fluid motion toward the hoop that allows the entire body to contribute to shooting the ball instead of shooting primarily with the arm. This single uninterupted fluid motion naturally increases consistency and range. Call or Contact Pat for more information.
Cancelled - 2-Day Summer Basketball "Skills" Camp at Philly U - Due to reasons beyond my control, I will be unable to have my 2-DAY SUMMER "SKILLS" BASKETBALL CAMP as originally scheduled thisJuly, 2010. I am excited about starting this camp for younger kids in the area and will be planning to do so as soon as I can.
